Flange facers are versatile on-site machining tools designed to resurface, repair, and precision-machine flange sealing faces. They are compatible with all standard industrial flange face types and most common flange body styles, making them essential for pipeline, petrochemical, power, and marine applications.

Ⅰ. Flange end processing machine of Suitable Flange Face Types (Sealing Faces)

1. Raised Face (RF) Flanges

Features: Most widely used; a small raised gasket seating surface above the bolting circle.

Application: ANSI Class 150–2500 / PN 10–400; oil/gas, chemical, general piping.

Facer Use: Resurface flatness, restore sealing finish, machine concentric serrations (waterlines).

2. Flat Face (FF) Flanges

Features: Full flat sealing surface level with the bolting circle.

Application: Low-pressure (PN ≤ 10), brittle materials (cast iron, FRP).

Facer Use: Full-face resurfacing, ensure parallelism between mating flanges.

3. Male-Female (M/FM) Flanges

Features: Paired convex (M) and concave (FM) faces; gasket locates in recess.

Application: Medium–high pressure (PN 10–100), corrosive/leak-prone media.

Facer Use: Machine matching male/female profiles, restore dimensional accuracy.

4. Tongue-Groove (T/G) Flanges

Features: Narrow tongue (T) and groove (G); gasket fully contained.

Application: High-pressure/high-temperature (PN 40–250), toxic/explosive media.

Facer Use: Precision-cut tongue/groove profiles, maintain tight dimensional tolerances.

5. Ring Type Joint (RTJ) Flanges

Features: Precision-machined trapezoidal groove for metal ring gaskets (oval/octagonal).

Application: Extreme pressure/temperature (Class ≥ 600 / PN ≥ 64); refineries, offshore.

Facer Use: Cut RTJ grooves, restore groove geometry and surface finish.

6. Lens Ring & Special Sealing Faces

Features: Curved lens-type sealing surfaces for high-pressure vessels/valves.

Application: Nuclear, high-pressure gas, special equipment.

Facer Use: CNC-controlled profiling to match lens gasket geometry.

Ⅱ. Compatible Flange Body Styles

Flange facers work with all standard flange types (regardless of connection style):

Plate Flange (PL): Slip-on, flat face/RF.

Slip-On Flange (SO): With neck, RF/M/FM/T/G.

Weld Neck Flange (WN): High-pressure, all face types including RTJ.

Socket Weld (SW) & Threaded (Th): Small-bore, RF/FF.

Blind Flange (BL): Full-face resurfacing, RTJ groove machining.

Integral Flange (IF): Valve/equipment body flanges, all face types.

Ⅲ.Flange end processing machine of Key Selection & Machining Notes

Size Range: Most portable flange facers cover OD 50mm (2″) to 3000mm (120″).

Materials: Carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, titanium, and other industrial alloys.

On-Site Advantage: In-situ machining eliminates disassembly; ideal for repair, maintenance, and new installation.

Ⅳ. Industry Applications

Flange facers are widely used in:

Oil & gas (including West-East Gas Pipeline)

Petrochemical & refining

Power generation (thermal, nuclear, wind)

Shipbuilding & offshore engineering

Chemical, pharmaceutical, and metallurgical plants

Pipeline installation & emergency repair
